The brief was to produce an animation walk through of an app, it could be any length, and the brief was very flexible so I think that helped me a lot whilst thinking of an app to design and how to animate it.  The hardest part was to come up with an idea but something new and fresh; the one thing I did not want to do was to do a brand extension, I think the design side of it would not be as fun to do as creating your own, because you have to keep to the same style of the brand.

So after designing my app and creating the animation for it, I have learnt and progressed my skills as an animator, since my previous project (lip sync) I used After Effects but at a very basic level, all I had to do was to animate the text but from that little experience that helped a great deal, but creating this app was another level, needed to enhance my skill sets, and I thoroughly enjoyed animating my app; I feel a lot more confident in my animating skills.

Furthermore since designing the app, I have paid attention a lot more into adverts, and more over the functionality and navigation of my own personal apps, it is not until you start creating your own app and animating it that you notice there are some poorly designed apps out there.

Moreover I feel my app has a few issues with it, could have changed the font type or perhaps the boldness and colours of them; I feel the navigation is fairly simple, it does what it says, but the key thing is that you can easily return or escape from a page with no problems, (whilst looking at other apps that has been a problem, your just stuck on one page). Nevertheless what helped me a lot was creating a colour palette for my app and keeping the colours consistent throughout the animation; the colours are contrasting and match each other; the colours come from researching what the represent, for example green-knowledge, grapes-purple, red-wine and books-brown, hence why the pages are their respective colours.

If I was to re-do this project again, I would change the concept of how I animated my walkthrough of the app, and to make it more believably I would have recorded an individual using their IPhone then animate my pages accordingly. Furthermore I would of used narration explain my app, because I feel it’s more engaging than just text appearing and disappearing on a screen, and even more so I feel that the audience would be much more engaged with the app, if I included the narration I do not think I would have music, it would be a bit too much.

Finally overall, I feel that for my first designed app, and my first walkthrough of an app it turned out pretty well, it has a clear narrative, engaging however one minor thing I personally feel it’s bit too long, but baring in mind it’s an app for wine and wine as a subject is very complex so needed to make sure that I showed wine as a subject in its simplest form.

Music

Music

The little details make the app I feel, so I needed to choose the music carefully, because of the app is about Wine, I needed to make sure that the music was elegant, jazzy, and make you feel as if you want a glass of wine.

I went through a lot of music, I decided on one and I think it fits well.

Heres my list and website I picked the music from.

The song I picked; Obrigate Soxiante (slow jazz)

Others I listened too;

Jake Bugg:Taste It
Kevin Macloed: Ace Vibe
Zapaska: Waitress
The Custonian Records: Hey
Kai Angel: The Moments of Mornings
Dmitirvy Krotevich: Sunday Shop
Luciano Foglia: Use Hypnosis

Fonts

Fonts

The font I chose for the animation is exactly the same type for my app.

Roboto family- Light, Italic

Background

Colour Palette

So to keep the consistency I kept to the same colour scheme, I chose for my app design.

I think it adds to the dimension of the video, breaks up the animation to make it more interactive, and not so plain.

Test 2

Test 2

So after re-doing my video again this time following the new animated storyboard I produced, I think it's a much improved version, however still a few thing's wrong with it, still the timing, and the text needs to change, it needs to be more consistent.

Here is version 2

Storyboard

Storyboard

So after reviewing my videos I decided to re-do a storyboard because I think that was the one thing letting me down, so I decided to create a new animated storyboard so that it would help me with understanding the movements and camera angles.
